Cherry Blossom Tree Drawing
Cherry blossoms are commonly used in Japanese and Chinese inspired interior design styles. The "sakura" or - cherry tree is held in high esteem in the country. The blossoming of the cherry tree is celebrated annually in Japan in fact during an event called Hanami. If you've ever had a chance to walk through Washington D.C. in the Spring season, you know just how beautiful these trees are - their flower is very fragrant and delicate.
So what's the meaning of the tree in certain Asian cultures and why is it so commonly used? They actually represent and symbolize a wide range of things. For example, today - they are mostly associated with beauty and innocence. However the tree was also regarded in the Samauri culture. Both Samurai's and cherry blossoms have a relatively short life span - and in many ways, the tree represented drops of blood. The delicacy of the flower was a symbol for the fragility of life. Now that's what it represents in Japan, but in China it takes on an entirely different meaning!
