I'm always on the hunt for delicious, reasonably priced (cheap!) wines. With holiday entertaining and gift giving right around the corner, I'm also looking for wines that can serve a large group without breaking the bank. Here are a few of my favorites that I've tried recently:

White Wines

2005 Pieroth Riesling Pzalz, German: A lovely, light, simple sipper with notes of pears and green apples. Pair with: seafood, shellfish, vegetarian, pork, chicken. 11% alcohol XD (extra dry) $11.15 Score: 87/100.

2006 Obikwa Sauvignon Blanc Stellenbosch, South Africa: An excellent value for this vibrant, refreshing wine. Aromas of lime, gooseberry and grapefruit. Pair with: fish, poultry. 12% D $9.15 Score: 88/100.

Red Wines

2006 J.J. Mcwilliams Shiraz Cabernet South Eastern Australia, Australia: A full-bodied, rich and simple wine with notes of extremely ripe plums and chocolate. Pair with: BBQ, grilled meats, steak, stew. 13% XD $10.15 Score: 87/100.

2006 Santa Rita Cabernet Sauvignon 120 Central Valley, Chile: An amazing value for this delicious wine! Aromas of dark red berries, cloves, vanilla, plums and oak. Pair with: red meats, pork, spicy sauces and hard cheeses. 14% XD $10.55 Score: 89/100.

Got any favorites that you've tried recently?
