If you know that you'd like to get away this summer or fall, but haven't settled on a destination, consider organizing your plans around a wine festival. These events are often held outdoors amid gorgeous scenery and feature great wines and food. What more could we ask as Epicurious fans?

Here are 5 great wine festivals to get you thinking:


Saab Vine Dining 2008 will be held June 22 in Vineland, Ontario. Theatre Aquarius, Hamilton's Regional Professional Theatre, is celebrating the 16th anniversary of its annual fundraiser, Saab Vine Dining which has sold out every year for the past nine years. Features a strolling picnic that takes guests though the vineyard and woods at Vineland Estates Winery. Leading chefs and caterers set up kitchens along the route and are interspersed among wineries who offer samples of their best wines. For information, visit http://www.theatreaquarius.org.

Taste3 will be held from July 17 to July 19 at COPIA in
Napa, California. A three-day gathering of nimble minds, eclectic palates and provocative ideas. Join Robert & Margrit Mondavi and 300 chefs, sommeliers, artisans, authors, executives, journalists and thought leaders in wine, food and the arts for Robert Mondavi Winery's third annual Taste3 Conference. Shores of Erie International Wine Festival will be held September 6 in
Amherstburg, Ontario. Features a concert on Thursday evening (last year Cowboy Junkies and Ron Sexsmith) and Friday through Sunday is a wine festival featuring the 13 wineries of the Lake Erie North Shore. There will be 23 restaurant participants and a demo kitchen along with entertainment Admission is $13. For information, visit http://www.soewinefestival.com.

Edgefield uncorked! will be held September 29 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in
Nashville, TN. Features artisan wines, gourmet foods, and entertainment. Admission is $50 in advance or $60 at the door. Proceeds go to historic preservation and three organizations serving Nashville-area children.For information, visit http://www.edgefielduncorked.com.
