McCafé – Art in a Coffee Cup

If Starbucks isn’t quite your forte, don’t fret, because McDonald’s has your best interest at heart. I offer you McCafe. McCafe first opened their doors in Australia way back in 1993 and since then more than 300 stores have opened and are generating quit a buzz in Europe and Asia. The first McCafe locations in the US opened in Illinois, and now they are scheduled to spread throughout the US this fall. They’ll be offering a variety of specialty coffee drinks like lattes, cappuccinos, and mochas, not to mention assorted teas and pastries. The atmosphere is said to be very much a step up from the fast food joint that we’ve all come to know and love/hate. They are tauting that you should expect all that Starbucks has to offer, but at a lower price and without the “snobbiness”. Currently, their website does not indicate a launch date for locations in the DC area, but all of their McCafe stores will be open by mid-2009.
