We splurged on a great bottle (or two) during the holidays and my favorite this year was a 2002 Gevrey-Chambertin premier cru Les Combottes by Domaine Arlaud Pere & Fils. Burgundies aren't exactly the easiest labels to understand, but there's nothing like a superb Old World pinot noir with turkey. In fact, who needs turkey when you've got a great wine?
After dinner, I started reading ...
First Big Crush by Eric Arnold, and am thoroughly enjoying it so far. So many books to read, so many wines to taste. I love the leisurely pace of the holidays that makes you believe that you just might get through most of them.
Let me know what's in your glass and on your bedside table.
